Dress Codes and Wrist Watches

As one would expect hospitals have dress codes. When a dress code changes there is normally a good reason. Connelly Hospital recently changed its dress code for the docs to short sleeves. They didn’t give a reason, but one can assume that its to help stop the spread of bacteria from one patient to the next. Sounds good. Sucks about my new dress shirts I bought in the summer, but I understand.

PROBLEM: the dress code change starts immediately, short sleeve white coats arrive Sept 25th. Why not implement the dress code change once the new materials arrive instead of sending hoards of stressed medical students searching the shops and getting white coats altered in a craze to meet the new requirements? Just feel like it’s one more last minute thing to stress over and I assure you there is enough of those as it is.

On the lighter side of things check out this house made of LEGO! More photos here.

Several med schools that my friends go to don’t allow them to wear their white coats because a study showed that it actually spreads bacteria from patient to patient.

My complaint about the white coats we’ve had to buy is that the pockets are too small to fit all of my stuff, particularly my stethoscope, which makes me unhappy to have wear it around my neck.
